In a Friday night encounter, the Tigers took on Walcha Roos at home and found themselves on the backfoot after the first 40 minutes.
Halftime couldn’t come quick enough for the hosts who carted their opponents up the field with repeat penalties.
The Tigers re-emerged after the break reinvigorated and piled on 24 points in the second term to account for the Roos 36-20.
“We did it pretty hard in the first half, too many silly penalties,” coach Brett Monley said.
“That let us down a little bit.
“A little talking to at halftime, we changed our game in the second half and we scored 24 points against them.”
Monley said Jack Doran, Kelcie Davies, Beau Hargrave and Josh Clark were standouts in the win and “one of the best crowds I have seen in a long time” helped cheer them home.
The ladies league tag was a tightly contested game between two of the competition’s top teams but the home side managed to grab the two points with a 14-8 win.
“The girls had another great win,” Monley said.
“They are going really well.
“They are showing they are a force to be reckoned with.”
